DIRTY BURGER, Arch 54, 6 South Lambeth Rd, Vauxhall SW8 1SS
DIRTY BURGER is in my hood so I’ve been meaning to try it for some time. Signage is APPALLING as in, there is none whatsoever. Only reason I know it’s there is because of local press announcing it is in Vauxhall near the station. And that is shameful, DIRTY BURGER as you should appeal to the locals – like a flyer through the local doors maybe? It’s old fashioned but it’s not all about social media you know. And also how about the drivers who drive round that Vauxhall one way system, time and time and time again, morning after morning, night after night? DIRTY BURGER, you are so missing a key marketing tool here. There is no STAND OUT sign about your place. I drive through there regularly as I live 5 minutes away but it took me an age to work out where it was. SIGNAGE is KEY!
The NANDO’s sign is massive, and it is on both sides of the arches, but DIRTY BURGER, despite your quality product, there is nothing to signify that you are there. No signage on the one way. No signage on the other side. I have long time friends in the area who have no idea you are there.
So point made. And onto the important stuff. Absolutely delicious burger – just right and suitably dirty. Crinkle cut chips? Not so great and tasted as if straight from freezer bag. But for burger alone, worth going. Staff were a bit rubbish though. Tried to raise the fact that it needed a sign outside to draw people in. “Talk to the management” they said. “Nothing to do with us” they said. Disappointing. But having said that, as long as you can work out which arch it is, and if you only want a suitably delicious burger (although apparently bacon and cheese together is too confusing a combination, it’s either one or the other according to staff!), then DIRTY BURGER at Vauxhall (if you can find it) is a winner. I’ll go back, now that I know where it is.
P.S. I don’t usually shout in CAPITALS on my blog but I am so cross with DIRTY BURGER for missing SUCH a prime marketing opportunity here. I mean, how many restaurants are situated on a one way system? It’s tantamount to being located near a turn-off on a motorway and not having a hand-written bedspread hanging over a bridge close to the turn-off! MAKE USE OF IT!
